In the last year sales of rosé have more than doubled, so what’s behind the rise? “Rose is the perfect wine when the weather starts warming up,” says Lindsay Rice, Owner of Vita Vite Raleigh. “[it’s] cool and refreshing, while still having depth of flavor and variety. We find that [rosé] appeals to red and white wine drinkers alike, and is the perfect pairing for cheese and charcuterie.” Once known as syrupy sweet, today’s rosés are balanced and dry, full-bodied with hints of fruit. Rice also recommends trying a sparkling version of the wine: “The effervescence and lightness of the bubbles, with just a hint of fruit, makes for the perfect way to make every day feel like a celebration!”
