Fans of Runologie’s extremely popular Boylan short—the extra comfy, stretchy short that transitions seamlessly from the trails to the taproom—have reason to be excited. Runologie is working on a women’s version of the short, with a different name, as well as a men’s tee, singlet, and long sleeve design. Runologie owners Brent Francese and Alex Warren say they hope to have around five pieces for men and women available within the next year.

The Boylan short, made of four-way stretch fabric and designed by Warren and Francese, is manufactured locally at runner and cyclist Brian Morrell’s sportswear company, Eagle Sportswear, LLC, in Middlesex, N.C. The short is available at Runologie in navy and port, with more colors to come, in sizes S-XL. The inspiration for the short’s name comes from Ruologie’s weekly run club, which starts on Hillsborough Street each Thursday evening, and takes its first turn onto Boylan Avenue. The runs are generally followed by beers.

“We love this stuff,” Francese says. “Each of us wore, ran, slept and lived in the Boylan short before it went to market, and we are taking that approach to each piece we produce. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s next.”
