Paint colors, window treatments, layout and furniture always play a starring role, but lighting adds detail on a whole new level.

Besides natural light, which we love, the placement and type of lighting you choose affects the brightness of your home and sets the mood of each room.

Glass pendant lights are one of the strongest trends we’re seeing in the lighting world. They typically have a simple silhouette and coordinate with many different styles. Glass refracts the light, giving your room an artistic edge; adding an Edison bulb gives a room a vintage feel. Glass pendants can swing both ways, (pun intended!).

Vicky Serany, principal designer at Southern Studio Interior Design has been seeing some gorgeous options in glass lighting the past few years. Both of her projects were perfect for glass pendant lights.

“Using pendants over a large kitchen island makes a creative design statement,” says Serany. The unique glass with Edison bulbs is simple, yet provides great visual interest.” Glass pendants work with many design elements and their popularity makes them easily accessible.
