May brings freedom to move as 3 (!) scooter companies roll out in DTR.

Scooters are back, Raleigh! Live the “Lime” life as three lean scooting machine companies have been invited to return to DTR in early May: Lime, Spin and Bolt. With an MO of improving quality of life and providing Raleigh “safe, equitable and sustainable” modes of transport, according to a city news release, the micromobility program is rolling out these dockless scooter-share services with updated rules per city council, including a 15-cent fee per ride, placement of at least 20% in city-designated low-income areas, and multilingual platforms.

“We applaud the work that Raleigh is doing to expand alternative transit solutions that are not only sustainable, but also support social distancing,” says Spin spokesperson Vivian Myrtetus. “With an extensive bike lane network already in place in Raleigh, we feel Spin will be a natural and complementary addition to the local transit network.” Each brand will need to keep a minimum of 50 scooters in its fleet (and up to 250 max) across the city. Here’s what you need to know to roll your way around Raleigh.

In the know: Ride in Streets and Bike Lanes!
