Carolina For The Kids Foundation (CFTK), North Carolina’s largest student-run non-profit fundraising organization, is thrilled to host its 8th annual Kilometers For The Kids (KFTK) race on Sunday, September 22nd at the Old Well on UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus.
With a focus on supporting patients and families at UNC Children’s, this event is designed
for the whole family. Participants are encouraged to break out their capes and walk, run, or
dance their way along the one-mile superhero-themed Fun Run or 5K. As an official event
of UNC’s 2019 Family Weekend, KFTK is an occasion not to be missed.
This event is organized and executed entirely by UNC undergraduates who have dedicated
their time to give back to those served by UNC Children’s. Committee members, subchairs,
and executive board members come from diverse backgrounds at Carolina. No matter
their year or major, they share this unique passion for the cause.
“We’re so excited to host this recurring event that kicks off the 22nd year of Carolina For
the Kids,” said Michelle Cooley, Executive Director. “With the support of the community, we
are limitless in what we can achieve for the kids.”
All proceeds from KFTK will benefit the programs and grants supported by CFTK for UNC
Children’s. These include the For The Kids Fund, which covers the costs incurred by families during hospitalization that are not otherwise paid for by insurance, the Parent’s Night Out fund, the Children’s Play Atrium, and other critical program areas.
In 2018, with the support of our generous donors, dancers, sponsors, and runners, KFTK
raised over $14,500 for UNC Children’s. We are incredibly excited to continue this annual
tradition and continue to raise more each year for the kids. We hope that you, your friends,
and your family will come join us for a fun-filled morning.
The morning will be complete with refreshments, prizes, and family fun while participants
mingle before and after the race. Best of all, they will get the opportunity to hear the
significance of their support first-hand from a Kid Co-Captain family that has benefited
from the foundation.
The 5K will start at 9 a.m., and the Fun Run will begin at 9:15 a.m. Participants are
encouraged to sign up by August 30th in order to guarantee a shirt of desired size. For
