It's summer, and we know it's HOT! This walking tour is perfect for the scorching summer weather — long enough to get you outside to learn all kinds of cool stuff, but not too long to overwhelm you and make you feel exhausted in the heat!

Even non-history buffs will enjoy this fun and entertaining tour! You will see the exterior of several Raleigh historic landmarks, including the Governor’s Mansion, the Capitol, the Legislative Building, and the oldest surviving brick building in Wake County. You will also learn a lot of cool information, like how Raleigh’s first Capitol building got destroyed!

PLEASE NOTE: The tour lasts approximately 60 to 75 minutes, depending on the size and speed of the group. We will start outside the Governor's Mansion at 200 N. Blount St. The Governor's Mansion takes up an entire city block, so please make sure that you are on the Blount St. side of the mansion. The starting point is in the shade on the corner of Blount and Jones Sts. Please do NOT attempt to enter the grounds of the Governor's Mansion at any time, especially through any of the corner entrances. Also, please do NOT buzz the intercom to the Mansion! The end point of the tour is approximately 2 blocks away from the starting point. In addition, we will not be entering any of the buildings listed in this tour description.

Please consider bringing water on the tour. You may also want to wear sunscreen and/or a hat, or bring an umbrella to create some shade for yourself. Please stay hydrated and dress accordingly!!!

This tour is pay-what-you-want — if you enjoy the tour, please compensate your guide appropriately! For this mini tour, the guide typically receives $10 to $15 per adult, but you are free to give more or less than that, depending on how you feel about your tour. As you can imagine, the tour guide has to work hard to earn your appreciation!

Finally, if you have previously attended our Haunted & Twisted History Tour, please be aware that the historical components of this tour are essentially identical to the Haunted & Twisted History Tour. We don't want anyone to be disappointed because they have previously heard this information on another tour!
