Looking for something fun and unique to do with Dad this Father’s Day weekend? Instead of giving him another tie or pair of socks, why not bring him out for a tour of downtown Raleigh? This informative tour is perfect for Dad and the entire family!
Even non-history buffs will enjoy this fun and entertaining tour! You will see several Raleigh historic landmarks, including the Governor’s Mansion, the Capitol, the Legislative Building, and the oldest surviving brick building in Wake County. You will also learn a lot of cool information, like how Raleigh’s second Governor’s Mansion and first Capitol building got destroyed!
PLEASE NOTE: The tour lasts approximately 75 minutes, but could be slightly longer depending on the size and speed of the group. We will start at the Governor’s Mansion at 200 N. Blount St. The Governor’s Mansion takes up an entire city block, so please make sure that you are on the Blount St. side of the mansion. The starting point is in the shade on the corner of Blount and Jones Sts. Please do NOT attempt to enter the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion at any time, especially through any of the corner entrances. The end point of the tour is approximately 2 blocks away from the starting point. In addition, we will not be entering any of the buildings listed in this tour description.
This tour is pay-what-you-want — if you enjoy the tour, please compensate your guide appropriately! Usually, the guide receives $15 to $20 per adult, but you are free to give more or less than that, depending on how you feel about your tour. As you can imagine, the tour guide has to work hard to earn your appreciation!
