Joel Lane Historic July 4th Open House

The Joel Lane Museum House will sponsor its annual Independence Day Open House on Sunday, July 4, 2021 from 11:00 am to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The 1769 house will be open and staffed by costumed docents. Meanwhile, on the grounds, living historians will demonstrate various aspects of early American life amid full summer glory of the JLMH gardens, and visitors will be able to participate in old-fashioned hands-on crafts such as tin punching and making rag dolls. There will be free lemonade for all and delicious Howling Cow ice cream while supplies last.

We are taking some extra precautions to ensure the safety of our visitors and volunteers:

• Everyone must wear a mask at all times when inside the museum buildings on July 4. We ask that anyone who has not been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 also wear a mask when on the museum grounds.

• Occupancy in the buildings will be limited to facilitate social distancing. The number of participants at an activity at one time may be limited.

Our staff and volunteers are excited to bring everyone back for our traditional celebration of America’s founding! Thank you for helping us make this a safe, enjoyable day for all.

Location: 160 South Saint Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC (at the foot of St. Mary’s St.), 27603, which is two blocks south of Hillsborough St., not far from downtown.

Admission: FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC; donations welcome.
