SUMMARY:Flavor Cup Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Flavor Cup Festival is a competition-based food festival that invites food trucks\, restaurants\, and all vendors to compete for the top spot in the Triangle. This festival provides a stark contrast to conventional food festivals by providing affordable tickets and providing supportive competition for vendors. Attendees will buy a ticket that allows them to try multiple sample-sized dishes from the vendors of their liking before voting for their favorite vendors of the day. Vendors will receive prize money for each vote earned\, and the vendor with the most votes at the end of the day will take home the esteemed Flavor Cup

SUMMARY:Garden Story Walk
DESCRIPTION:Come out to the gardens for a Garden Story Walk. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful gardens and read a good story at the same time! \nThis story will be out in the gardens from Saturday\, November 7 through Sunday\, November 15 during garden open hours. \nNot familiar with Story Walks? Story Walks are self-guided experiences where pages of a book are displayed in the garden. Information about where to find the title page is posted at the Visitor Center. Once you find the first page of the story in the garden\, you’ll see the next page and be able to follow the story as you stroll through the gardens. There is no set time to start this experience and can be done at your own pace. Most stories can be experienced in about half an hour to an hour.

SUMMARY:Perception vs. Palate
DESCRIPTION:Ever chosen a bottle just because the label looked expensive… or because it sounded French? \nYou’re not alone. When it comes to wine\, your brain is constantly influencing what you think you smell and taste—sometimes without you even realizing it. Is expensive wine really better\, or are we just pressuring ourselves? Can color\, glassware\, music\, setting and even your mood trick you? In this eye-opening (and seriously fun) tasting experience\, we’ll challenge assumptions through a series of blind tastings\, sensory surprises\, and delicious experiments designed to test what you actually like—without labels\, price tags\, or wine snobbery getting in the way. And just when you think you know a grape… we’ll show you how clones\, terroir\, climate\, and winemaking can completely transform it into something wildly unanticipated. \nExpect surprises. Taste without bias. Outsmart your own brain. \nBecause in wine\, perception is powerful… and your palate may know more than you think.

SUMMARY:The Midweek Program
DESCRIPTION:Autumn is the opportune time to start planting bulbs for a beautiful display in the spring. Of course\, some “spring bulbs” aren’t even really bulbs\, and when you get plant nerds thinking about geophytic storage organs\, we get sidetracked by all the incredible ways plants have adapted to enduring times of stress\, and we just want to talk about that. \nJoin our Curator Dennis as he goes beyond bulbs and takes a deep dive into the different types of plant storage organs from corms and tubers to rhizomes and swollen hypocotyls. Dennis will show you how to tell the difference between these various plant parts while also showing you some cool examples of each one. And it is Dennis after all\, so there will be a healthy dose of fun facts and plant trivia every step of the way. Don’t miss it!
