“Stuff the Bus” Toy Drive
A local senior living community in Cary will be hosting its third annual “Stuff the Bus” holiday toy drive. Woodland Terrace, a Kisco Senior Living community, is calling for help to fill its bus with new, unwrapped toys for any age on Thursday afternoon. The toys donated will be given to Transitions LifeCare, an organization that provides home-based care to children facing life-limiting illnesses and their families in the greater Raleigh area. Transitions will distribute the toys to children enrolled in the program as well as other children in the family up to the age of 26, gifting items close to those on real wish lists from the kids. These “toys” can take the form of toddler blocks, dolls and trucks, diaries and books, or even yoga mats.
“We are excited to open the drive up to the public for the first time this year,” says Matt Towler, executive director of Woodland Terrace. “In previous years, residents and their families would Stuff the Bus until it was full with gifts. At a time like this when more are in need, we can’t wait to see what the greater community can come together and accomplish to make the holidays brighter for local families.” Here are photos from last year’s toy drive.
Anyone can purchase children’s toys and drive up to the right side of Woodland Terrace on Thursday, December 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to drop off the gifts (unwrapped) to the community’s associates who will “stuff the bus” with all of the donations and deliver them to Transitions LifeCare for families currently in its program.
