Raleigh Magazine’s staff has recently been rocked by three deaths from ALS. ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) is 100% fatal. It can happen to any of us without warning. In honor of our loved ones and all those touched by this horrific and tragic disease, we are walking on June 26 at 9:45am. Please walk with us (or if you can’t walk, please donate). I don’t understand these results. All of the recent studies show obesity and type 2 diabetes as reducing risk for ALS. But Akkermansia is thought to help ameliorate obesity and type 2 diabetes. Nicotinamde gives people a lot of energy so it makes sense that it would be linked with increased metabolism. But it seems many ALS patients have a problem with increased metabolism.
