Complete 540 is finally making progress—but driver Complete 540 is finally making progress—but drivers will need to plan ahead. A stretch of East Garner Road between Auburn Knightdale Road and Rock Quarry Road is closed for ~45 days as crews continue work on the southern extension of I-540. Weather permitting, construction will move forward throughout the closure. During that time, drivers should follow the posted detour via Rock Quarry Road and Auburn Knightdale Road.

Heads up, Raleigh: If you're out and about this we Heads up, Raleigh: If you're out and about this week, keep your head on a swivel. After months of drought, the recent soaking rains have left the ground saturated—making it easier for weakened trees to topple in strong storms, according to Duke Energy. We've already seen trees fall across Glenwood Avenue near Five Points and near Glenwood and Oberlin, causing road closures and power outages.

With more rounds of heavy rain and storms on deck this week, use extra caution while driving, especially on tree-lined roads, and never drive around downed trees or power lines. Stay safe, Raleigh. 🌧️🌳

As GLP-1 drugs surge in popularity and ultrathin bodies once again dominate runways, magazines and movie screens, Raleighites are weighing the promises, pressures and cultural fallout of the weight-loss drug era.

Pleasant Valley is getting a grocery store! Sprout Pleasant Valley is getting a grocery store! Sprouts Farmers Market will take over the portion of the shopping center formerly occupied by Starbucks, Spirit Halloween and other tenants. Now vacant, the original building will be demo’d to make way for Sprouts and two additional commercial buildings, according to preliminary plans submitted to the city.

Known for its open floor plan and selection of fresh produce and organic groceries, the Phoenix-based grocer is expected to open the location in 2027, marking its third store in the Triangle.

Stay tuned for progress updates.
