New ~bomb~ smoothie bar honors owner’s late husband.
We’ve got some *bomb* news to share, Raleigh. Smoothie and healthy eats spot The Bomb Bar just bowed its premiere NC location in Gateway Plaza serving up smoothies (natch), plus local fave Jubala Coffee and myriad Boulted Bread toasts like the perennial millennial fave avocado toast.
Making its first splash in Charleston, The Bomb Bar gets its name from a key ingredient in each sipworthy smoothie: the Blender Bomb, a superfood ball of goodness packed with nuts, seeds and other feel-good nutrients. Each smoothie contains said ball, plus the brand’s bomb butter—aka peanut butter serving half the fat and cals of other nut butters. Feel healthy yet?
But for owner, widower, mom and local businesswoman Mandy Landaas, whose own life has been in a blender the past couple of years, The Bomb Bar is more than just a vision realized. It’s a way to honor her
late husband, Bryan, who passed away in 2022 from glioblastoma, an aggressive fast-growing brain tumor.
“Opening a smoothie bar was always part of the dreams Bryan and I shared—to make wellness a seamless part of daily life,” stresses Landaas. “Bringing The Bomb Bar to Raleigh feels like fulfilling that vision in a meaningful way—and is a way for me to continue Bryan’s entrepreneurial legacy and make him proud.”
To wit, the Third Wave smoothie benefitting glioblastoma research serves as a nod to Bryan’s Third Wave Psychotherapy—founded in 2015, and of which Landaas now serves as CEO—alongside his preferences throughout the space, from the skylight to a plethora of plants and beyond.
“Bryan wanted to add value to the community and create spaces that foster well-being,” says Landaas. “There’s nothing like The Bomb Bar in Raleigh. It’s more than just a spot for smoothies; it’s a place where community and wellness come together to support a balanced, fulfilling life.” And that is what really makes it the bomb dot com. thebombbar.com
