Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, try this Mint Julep

Recipe:

1 heaping tsp. Sugar OR .5oz simple syrup

6-8 mint sprigs

Crude Ginger-Turmeric bitters

2oz bourbon

Place mint leaves in the bottom of a julep cup or rocks glass and top with sugar, 2-droppers of bitters and a splash of water. Muddle together until leaves begin to break down.

Fill the glass with crushed ice* and once the glass frosts over, add bourbon. Stir and garnish with a sprig of mint. Drink and repeat.

*Crushed ice: wrap ice in a dish towel and pound with a mallet or muddler until finely crushed.
