New bar set to serve up cocktails with a side of competition

Get ready to get smashed, Raleigh—literally. It’s game on at Smash Social Club, the new upscale social playground opening in the former Carolina Ale House space overlooking Glenwood South Dec. 11.

Serving up a fresh spin on eatertainment to the burgeoning district, LM Restaurants’ latest concept (think Birdie’s, Vidrio, Ale House) rallies the party district with nearly 10K square feet of food-and-fun fusion—no membership required. Leveling up the Glenwood game scene sparked by Hop Shots at Raleigh Beer Garden, Smash hits with table tennis, shuffleboard and electric darts alongside a range of craft cocktails, brews and vinos that up the buzz factor (or keep it chill with NAs), plus signature bites (think barbacoa or chicken tinga nachos, “French fries for all,” pizzas, taco flights, and beyond).

“Smash Social Club is all about connection and play,” says LM Restaurants President Amber Moshakos. “Guests want to engage, compete and connect—not just scroll or sit still. Smash brings that energy to life with interactive experiences that spark conversation
and camaraderie.”

Designed for the urban jungle, Smash is a vibe—period. The design volleys playful nods to its games: a neon paddle light fixture, ball-inspired hanging lights and striking murals by Bull City artist Gabriel Eng-Goetz

Sports fans can get their game on too by posting up at the 26-seat bar, or by snagging the King Table—a showpiece pingpong table with banquette seating for up to eight by reservation. The adjacent Paddle Room houses three pong tables, TVs, a projection screen and plenty of banquettes (prime for private events).

And those long-loved outdoor terraces? Still there—and leveled up. Retractable windows and roofs open to more pong play, shuffleboard showdowns and a dedicated Dart Garden.

“As people look for more than just dinner and drinks, we’re embracing the eatertainment phenomenon [by] creating spaces as dynamic and connected as the guests who fill them,” says Moshakos. “Smash Social Club is an elevated, high-energy space made for Raleigh… and how people socialize [today].”

So whether you’re chasing bragging rights or buzzworthy bites, Smash serves up Raleigh’s latest rally point for a night equal parts party and play. @smashraleigh
