It all began with a Twitter post that included a photo of an unused bank of newsstands on Fayetteville Street and a question: “Should they be removed or maybe repurposed?” Tons of locals threw out ideas—lending libraries the most popular.
Now a small group of downtowners, including RM’s own Leo Suarez, is working with the City of Raleigh, which owns the newsstands to repurpose the newsstands into lending libraries based on the honor system.
