WEB EXCLUSIVE Join the Capital Cycling Club with a wheelie fun race this Fourth of July.

“Baby you’re a firework.” Shoot across the Holly Springs/Fuquay-Varina area through Capital Cycling Club’s 28th Annual Firecracker Ride to celebrate America’s birthday—and afterward, treat yo’self to a brew and some food at the afterparty (because you’ll most definitely deserve it!).

Riders will have the choice to take a 30- or 60-mile route, with all proceeds going to the Greater Carolina’s MS Society. Since 2012, CCC has raised over $100,000 for the society. A little exercise that benefits a great cause before the rest of your Independence Day celebrations? Well may the Fourth be with you. A win-win.

Capital Cycling Club Firecracker Ride

“The ride and the routes are just beautiful roads that the riders go through,” says event Chair Anne Bari. “It’s a real chance to connect with the community—a great combination of a lot of different people with a lot of different passions and talents that come together to put on a great event.”

The afterparty at Carolina Brewing Company (also the starting and ending point of the rides) will feature music; food from Chirba Chirba, Beefy Buns and more; and cold beer (the brewery is donating 10% to the MS Society for every beer sold) that not even the newest rider will be two tired to enjoy. Jim Palistrant, rider and treasurer of CC, says that the afterparty is one of his favorite parts of the event (naturally).

“That’s when everyone comes together,” says Palistrant. “If you’re faster, or a slower rider, it doesn’t really matter. You get together and you swap war stories, trade wise, have a cold drink and just have a great time connecting on a personal level with your cycling community.”

“Ignite the light, and let it shine,” y’all. Map, registration and more info here.
