The Perfect Garnish

Garnish Cocktail brings the bar to your events.

“I need a bartender.” You’ve no doubt heard (or uttered) this need for a mixologist to stir it up—whether at a party or company event. Now, answering that call is Josh Gagne (of The Haymaker and Killjoy fame)—via his new mobile cocktail/bartending catering biz Garnish Cocktail rolling out this month.

Unlike your traditional trailer pull-behind mobile bar, Garnish will operate with an actual 4-foot-wide bar on wheels (Gagne likens it to the solo kiosk “bars” you’d find at PNC Arena). With that comes the flexibility to bartend as a standard bar and the ability to, well, garnish any event anywhere—from a rooftop to your backyard.

While party hosts are currently responsible for procuring the spirits (which, if you’ve ever had to buy a barrel of bottles from ABC, you know is a burden), that, too, could change. If SB527 becomes law, mobile bartenders like Gagne would be permitted to bring their own alcohol, as long as it’s purchased from a wholesaler or an ABC store. Although the new law would not allow the bartender to charge guests by individual beverages, hosts would have the option to charge a fee to attend (translation: bartender fees paid).

“There’s so many options to get high-quality catered food,” says the Garnish guru. “But with cocktails, it’s virtually nonexistent. The whole reason I came up with Garnish is to garnish the occasion—to be that last little touch at your event that makes it very unique and special.”

Leveling up the experience is the op for full customization—from the cocktail menu and color scheme to the flower arrangements and bar decor to Gagne’s attire—which plays into people’s penchant for personalization. “What I’ve found is the options are so limited—people just don’t realize what they’re able to bring in as far as bartending goes,” says Gagne. “So, you bring me the idea, and I’ll do the leg work.”

Garnish will also up the ante for cocktails straight-up. While drinks tend to be an afterthought, Gagne ensures his new biz will offer a refreshing affair for imbibers where the ’tails add to the overall vibe.

“The bar offers me a lot more functionality to do really fun things with cocktails like I’ve done over the years at both bars—and over all of my years of experience,” the mix master adds. “It’s almost like I’m taking a piece of my bar at The Haymaker and bringing it to you.” We’ll cheers to that!
