A snapshot of warmer days ahead
Photography by Susan Holt
Oh, snap! Local architectural photographer Susan Holt was taking a circa-2020 stroll along the north end of Wrightsville Beach with her daughters when she spotted intricate sand patterns that sparked a burst of creative inspiration.
“It was right around sunset,” recalls Holt. “I just started taking pictures” (with an iPhone no less!)… adding, “I don’t even know how many I took. I was just fascinated by the patterns and [snapped photos] until the sun went down.” And while the architectural photographer typically captures man-made urban environments, “2020 was a weird year—and I was feeling inspired,” she says of her spectacular step into nature photography.
Now, Holt is sharing her sandy snaps with the world—and we’re soaking all the warmth they bring in anticipation for sunny beach days ahead. After all, “life’s a beach—we’re just playin’ in the sand.” susanholt.photography
