Streetwear Meets Sportswear in Fall Fashion

Blokecore isn’t just for blokes.

In the afterglow of the World Cup, a historic win for the Canes and a first-in-five-decades NBA win for our neighbors up North, it’s safe to say that stadium energy is up—and fashion trends are keeping up with the hype. 

Read: Jerseys are the name of the game this season. Pinterest searches for jerseys jumped 138%, and everyone from Zendaya and Bella Hadid to Rihanna and NC princess Reneé Rapp are sporting athletic-leaning looks. Dubbed “blokecore” by British footy fans, the dolled-up jersey aesthetic combines street style with sportswear. 

But put down the prewrap and sports bras: The goal isn’t to look like you’re going for a hat trick—it’s to seem like you just watched a hat trick from the sidelines—while holding a drink and looking super chic, natch. 

Sportswear is obviously essential, but the key is to include one or two elements of inconvenience, so to speak. Think a letterman jacket with denim shorts and cowboy boots, track pants with ballet flats and a baseball cap, or a soccer jersey with kitten heels and hoop earrings. In short, at least one piece should scream “I am not about to run on the field.”
