The mountains are calling—famously. If you’re ready to give in to the age-old adage beckoning you to Western NC this fall,  take our quiz to find your mountain-town match made in heaven. 

Who are you heading west with? 

  1. The gals or guys 
  2. My significant other

  4. Me, myself & I

Preferred place to stay?

  1. A chic but artsy hotel room 
  2. A homey cabin
  3. An inn with a spa 
  4. A tent—or even a hammock

Searching for all the best parts of a college town from sports to live music with a side of mountain muck and mire via skiing, snowboarding, caving, fishing and more? Boone and Blowing Rock have you on lock. 
Must-go’s: Come Back Shack, Beech Mountain Resort, Basil’s, Linville Caverns, Town Tavern

Mostly C’s: Head to Highlands
You’re yearning for a secluded and quaint getaway with all the charm a small Southern town can muster—plus views for days and hiking nearby if the mood strikes. 
Must-go’s: Old Edwards Inn and Spa, Mountain Fresh Grocery, Dry Falls, Highlander Mountain House

Downtown Highlands

Mostly D’s: Head to Brevard
We get it, you’re outdoorsy—and the Blue Ridge Mountains give you good reason to be. Lace up and go off the grid via myriad trails in the Pisgah National Forest, but don’t forget to grab a beer or a sweet treat on your way out.
Must-go’s: Dolly’s Dairy Bar, Whaleback Swimming Hole, Frying Pan Tower, Oskar Blues Brewery
