Beginner’s Watercolor Winter Botanicals Workshop @ JB Duke Hotel Marketplace Bar
Never picked up a paintbrush? This approachable watercolor workshop with artist Sia Karamalegos is a relaxed introduction to painting, as loose winter botanicals like evergreens, berries and pinecones take shape while the color flows across the page. You will work in the season’s palette of deep greens, berry reds and frosted neutrals and leave the experience with several small, finished paintings to give your holiday decorations a personal touch.
All materials are provided, including professional-quality Winsor & Newton watercolor paints, Fabriano Studio cold-press watercolor paper and brushes, so you can simply show up and paint.
The class takes place in JB Duke Hotel’s Marketplace Bar, a favorite gathering spot for Fuqua School of Business students and visitors alike. After you put down your brush, warm up by the fire pits on the outdoor terrace with a glass of wine, available for purchase at the Marketplace Bar. Throughout the class, guests can also order food and beverages from the JB Duke Hotel’s Lobby Lounge menu to enjoy during the experience. The watercolor workshop is part of the Dive Into Durham Masterclass series, a fall program that invites the Triangle to discover its next creative passion. The series is hosted by JB Duke Hotel and the nearby Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, both AAA Four Diamond properties on the campus of Duke University.
