The Midweek Program

November 4 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

Autumn is the opportune time to start planting bulbs for a beautiful display in the spring. Of course, some “spring bulbs” aren’t even really bulbs, and when you get plant nerds thinking about geophytic storage organs, we get sidetracked by all the incredible ways plants have adapted to enduring times of stress, and we just want to talk about that.

Join our Curator Dennis as he goes beyond bulbs and takes a deep dive into the different types of plant storage organs from corms and tubers to rhizomes and swollen hypocotyls. Dennis will show you how to tell the difference between these various plant parts while also showing you some cool examples of each one. And it is Dennis after all, so there will be a healthy dose of fun facts and plant trivia every step of the way. Don’t miss it!
