Remember the days when planning a vacation meant thumbing through faded brochures in a dimly lit travel agency that smells vaguely of printer ink and stale coffee? Well, good news: The travel industry is getting a glow-up. Think bespoke itineraries with personal touches that reflect the interests of the individual traveler—whether culinary, literary or historical. Read: less booking, more curating.
Enter locally owned Nova Vista, founder and Managing Director Becky Olson’s solution for all things luxury travel. A former executive assistant, Olson realized her passion for planning trips paired with her logistics experience could translate to the luxury travel-consultancy industry. Making the pivot in 2020—when people weren’t so keen on traveling—the timing was serendipitous, as the pause allowed her to network, connect with established travel advisors and global partners, and develop her company’s identity.
At the heart of the travel co is Olson’s personal love for crafting unique and immersive itineraries, natch. “Our consultancy process is entirely tailor-made to the personalities and interests of the client—from the services we provide to which travel partners we work with,” she explains.
Translation: If you’re into vintage shopping, you won’t be led to the nearest mall. Instead, imagine browsing funky tucked-away vintage locales in London, Paris or wherever your wanderlust takes you. Craving a crisp glass of white on a sun-drenched terrace? No problem. Sip your way through the Loire Valley at the region’s finest vineyards. And if your travel dreams are sparked by the pages of your favorite novel, Nova Vista will find a way to bring that story to life too.

“We’re really here to make sure our clients get the best experience possible,” ensures Olson, who nods to the care they’ve taken to craft inclusive itineraries—including accommodating certain dietary restrictions or accessibility needs.
And now, with travel partners like TRAVELLUSTRE, endorsements by Forbes Travel Guide and countless successful client trips under her belt, Olson has been able to refine the company to reflect her personal passions. The latest? Books.
“Like everyone else during the pandemic, I ended up on TikTok and eventually got sucked into the ‘romantasy’ side of BookTok,” shares the self-dubbed “travel designer.” Inspired by the surge of themed balls and fan events surrounding popular romantasy series like A Court of Thorns and Roses and Fourth Wing, she began to consider whether there could be a market for book-inspired travel. “I could picture where these stories would take place if they were on Earth,” she muses—and so Nova Vista’s Book Club Journeys was born.
Olson’s next trip invites fans of the Outlander series to step back in time to experience the dramatic landscape, ancient castles and time-honored traditions of Scotland. But if that’s not your jam, “the nice thing about Book Club Journeys is there will always be more books,” muses Olson, who also teases branching out from the romantasy genre to classics by Jane Austen or fan-fave The Lord of the Rings—and working with clients to create their own tailor-made literary-inspired itinerary.
And, so, your chance to step into a story—whether an actual book or that dream vacay you’ve been dreading planning—awaits. novavistatravel.com
